Let's see how it goes, but I wouldn't get too attached to that character. I also fail to see how this would resemble a new player's experience, since I doubt you'll get the same reception as a real noob. This is a clumsy comment to direct at an employee who is doing something positive and helpful for new players. Still doesn't mean he is wrong... I think its great what Falcon is doing but in no way can it help him relate to how a new player feels simply because he is probably one of the most knowledgeable people about Eve. One of the major aspects of why Eve is so damn good is its complexity, you can't replicate this just by rolling a new character. Again, great to see a Dev actually playing Eve on a regular basis and interacting with the community but in regards to resembling a new players experience.. not even close. Whilst I am sure you are correct, there is still a lot to be learned, if he refuses donations, as the first few million is the hardest. I remember just how tough it was to, afford a fitted Destroyer, only to lose three in a row. With experience, chump change, but to a newbie many days or longer of work. There are skills and experiences that cannot be forgotten and so long as Falcon keeps that in mind, it should be a good experience, for him, and later for all new players. Bravo CCP falcon Again, I applaud what Falcon is doing, but when you have that experience you know what to do and what not to do. Also as a new player you don't have everybody gunning for you just because you are a dev.
Even veterans can have problems doing the NPE. I still remember watching Elise Randolph doing the same experiment a while back and even he was having some troubles with the tutorials.
But yeah, still won't even get close to the learning curve that new players have to deal with when they are starting. |
